Manuel Kaufmann jazz composer/arranger/bassist

Manuel Kaufmann's music has been performed by Greg Hopkins, Herb Pomeroy, Billy Cobham, Bobby Watson, Jerry Bergonzi, Adam Nussbaum, Claudio Roditi, Chuck Marohnic, Bob Gullotti, Franco Ambrosetti, Mike Richmond, Tommy Campbell, Christian Jacob, Jeff Galindo, Sam Pilafian, Tim Ray, Bijon Watson, Phil Grenadier as well as jazz ensembles from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Eastman Jazz Ensembles and the Berklee Jazz Orchestra.

He has sold over two hundred of his self-published charts for large and medium-sized jazz ensembles. His compositions and arrangements have appeared in concerts in the US, Spain, Switzerland, South Africa, Israel, China, Mexico, Italy, Canada, Germany and Finland. 

 Manuel is currently a professor in the Contemporary Writing and Production Department at Berklee College of Music.

The Manuel Kaufmann Nonet is capable of a powerful large ensemble sound without overpowering the intimate chamber feel of a small jazz band. It performs mostly post-bop tinged originals and some fresh arrangements of the Great American Songbook at Ryles, The Beat Hotel, The Beehive, Berklee and other venues around the Boston area.

The MKN has featured Greg Hopkins, Rick DiMuzio, Phil Grenadier, Shannon LeClaire, Jeff Galindo, Jerry Sabatini, Dan Fox, Doug Johnson, Mike Connors, Megan de Riccio, Allan Chase, Plamen Karadonev, Bob Tamagni, Bob Pilkington, Michael Moss, Gus Sebring, Tim Ray, John Lockwood, Ben Whiting, Mike Peipman, Keala Kaumeheiwa, Braden Williams, Jeff Claassen and others.
